Christchurch v Poole Town
Match Result: 4 – 3
Goal Scorers: Charlie Daniels, Olly Balmer (2), Philip Pollard
First games of the season don't come much tougher than this!
We played with the wind first half but in the first minute we were undone by a brilliant solo effort from Adam which went just wide. We pretty much went straight up the other end and a cross field pass found Charlie on his own and he finished well. Two minutes later Olly Balmer added a second and within a minute Poole pulled one back. So 5 minutes in and we were two – one up. The game seemed to settle down for a period before Olly added his second after 12 minutes and they scored their second a couple of minutes later. 15 minutes in then and 3 – 2 to us. We are now playing 35 minuutes and the next twenty seemed like a lifetime. We were playing some nice football but Adam was a constant threat which we were really struggling to cope with.
Second half was equally competitive but was harder for us against the wind. About quarter of an hour in Adam converted a penalty and it was beginning to look like our one goal lead at half-time would not see us through. Our boys have regained the spirit which we seemed to lose at the end of the season though and we never gave up. Ten minutes from the end Philip got a deserved goal for all the work he had done up front. Again the next ten minutes seemed like a lifetime but we held on!
