SQUAD: LOUIS H, LOUIS L, HARRY, TJ, OLIVER, CAMERON, LIAM, MARTIN, AARON.
We had a new player making his debut today in Cameron and with only Josh missing it was the regular boys playing this match. All the players are making such quick progress with this being only their fourth ever organised game and it is really starting to show on the pitch. They played with great energy and commitment and tried hard to deliver all the things that have been practised in training, players closed down space well, stayed with the runners and broke decisively when required.
Many positives from today and plenty to keep working on for our next game. Well Done
Another lovely day for playing sport of any kind and some very enthusiastic boys ready to play their third organised football game, EVER!!
The boys as has seemed the norm so far this season all arrived with sleepy dust in their eyes and with lead in their legs and the first half was all about running this out of their system, enjoying the experience and very importantly listening to their coach to keep their opponents at bay. There was some strong defending especially from Liam and Aaron who seemed to be in all parts of the pitch and with Harry in goal the boys made it through the half, still smiling and feeling more energised.
The second half saw the team come alive and some great attacking play gave much more confidence to everybody, the game was played in an excellent spirit with both sets of spectators extremely supportive to each team. All players should be proud of their contribution and have plenty to take away to work on in training next time.
Christchurch squad: Harry, Liam, Josh, Martin, Louis L, Oliver, Aaron and TJ
In only the second game the boys have played together they showed great determination and fighting spirit against a team that had played together last season at under 7 level. It was definitely a game of two halves and with some great support from parents the boys confidence grew immeasurably as the game went on.
There is plenty to be positive about and plenty for us to develop in training but with everybody upbeat it has the potential to be a great first season. All players need to just keep working with the enthusiasm and commitment they have shown so far and we will make continued progress.
Squad for today was: Liam, Louis H, Louis L, Harry, Martin, Josh, Oliver, Aaron and TJ
Well done and thank you to all the parents for their great support.
A first game of the season against a strong opposition and for many of the boys their first time ever playing in a structured match against other players other than their training squad. As you would hope the game was played in a great spirit with plenty of encouragement from both sets of parents and coaches and judging by the smiles on both sets of players it was game that they enjoyed also.
There was plenty of effort from both sides and no shortage of skill also with both teams trying to play passing football and make use of the whole of the pitch, it was a thrilling game and will give encouragement to everybody for the season ahead.
Team: TJ, Oliver, Liam, Aaron, Harry, Louis L, Louis H, Josh
Christchurch under 8’s have kicked off their very first season of ‘non-competitive’ matches with games against Bransgore and Ringwood.
The team played exceptionally well in both games considering that this has been the first time they have played against any other opponents, the boys put into practice many of the good things they have learnt in training and with more practice at match level are sure to make even bigger improvements over the coming weeks.
Coaches and parents are extremely proud of the way that they have conducted themselves on and off the pitch and we all look forward to a successful and improving season.
The squad this week were: Damian, Louis B, Louis R, Harry L, Harry P, Frank, Ethan, Dylan, Jamie and Aidan
